Easy Nail Art

Since crazy nail art is all the rage, I thought i'd give it a whirl!  For an easy, inexspensive do it yourself version try making polka dot nails.  Choose two high contrasting colors,  paint a base and let completely dry, then add dots with a toothpick.  If you really want to get crazy try mixing up the dot colors!

Thrifting Thursday-Lace Top

This week's find is a black lace top I purchased at the Salvation Army for $2.00. Lace is a big trend and the fact that this is black makes it easy to mix with all the color that is huge for spring.  I also loved that this top was lined which makes for easy wear and the lace is still in good condition with no pilling or snags.

Wear with colored skinny jeans heals and some sassy red lipstick for a night out.

3 ways to style a trench coat

Every spring brings the reinvention of the classic trench coat. This season is all about color and unique details.  If you already have this fashion staple in your closet you can refresh it easily for spring with some creative styling tricks.

casual trench
Keep it casual by removing the belt and wearing your trench open with sleeves pushed up.  Add a pop of color with a fitted tee and  pattern flats.  Maintain the casual cool look with accessories that are neutral but still make a statement like a chunky watch and tortoise shell glasses.

pops of color
The neutral trench looks great against pops of bold color. Try adding bright solid colored accessories for a color blocking feel.

Take inspiration from this Burberry trench and add a thick statement belt.  Something with a texture like the one shown here is a great way to add interest to a basic neutral trench.  If you don't have a belt you could also try a scarf tied snuggly around your waist for a similar look.

Thrifting Thursday-Levi's Flare Jeans

A great way to satisfy a shopping itch on a budget is by hitting up your local thrift store.  It can be a tad bit overwhelming at first but with a little practice you can learn to spot those items with potential.  Each Thursday will feature thrift store finds and how they can be tweaked and styled into fabulous outfits.

This week's find is a pair of vintage inspired Levi's jeans which I purchased at the salvation army for about $2.00.  The cute button detail, high waist, and flare leg give's them that true 70's vibe.   When thrifting for jeans look for a wash that's not too dated and make sure to check the seat and bottom of the pant leg for wear and tear.   I've found when thrifting Levi's maintain good quality and are a timeless brand that also make great cut off shorts!

Flowy crop tops and tanks are huge for Spring and are the perfect pairing with these jeans.  For a casual look layer on some bright accessories and sandals

Create an edgy rock look by layering on a leather jacket with hardware and studs.  Dress it down by adding chunky accessories and some pops of color.  Keep it more casual my choosing a larger hand bag with cool details like leather straps or studs.

Keep it sophisticated by layering a mens wear style blazer.   Add some interest with a pair of statement shoes with cool details like these ruffles booties.  Stay super chic but understated by mixing in neutral accessories.
