Copy this cute preppy style by layering on a cardigan that adds a pop of color.  Choose accessories that with preppy details like stripes or dots.  Add a more sophisticated shoe like a classic pump or these loafer style heels to complete the look.

If your dress has a simpler neckline and cut you can take it down a notch by layering a crop sweater.    Try a tonal shade to keep it from looking too choppy.  Complete the look by adding some boho or aztec inspired accessories and a pair of boots.
